Baku: Europe should not interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan

According to the media of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan reacted to the resolution dated April 25 of the European Parliament. The press release of this ministry considered the European Parliament’s decision unfounded.

According to him, the human rights situation in the Republic of Azerbaijan is clearly distorted.

Hajizadeh noted: The automatic approval of such unilateral and biased resolutions without adequate evaluation has long become normal for the European Parliament. This action is nothing but a clear political order of a number of forces in Europe with the aim of worsening relations with Azerbaijan. In such an environment, the members of a certain group of the European Parliament, guided by their internal considerations and personal interests, are only busy promoting a distorted picture of the situation in Azerbaijan.

He believes: the intention of those who promote the adoption of such documents is to divert attention from the real problems and the socio-economic and political pressure of the European society. In addition, the request to sanction Azerbaijan only complicates the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union. asked not to interfere in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan and stop interfering in the courts.

On April 25, the European Parliament passed a resolution on the human rights situation in The Republic of Azerbaijan approved.

The European representatives asked the Baku authorities to immediately and unconditionally release the human rights defender Alhamiz Qoliev, who was arrested in December 2023. and release other political prisoners, including citizens of the European Union and other countries.

out of a total of 529 representatives participating in the voting, 474 representatives voted in favor of this resolution, 4 100 voted against and 51 abstained.

Members of the European Parliament insist that any future partnership agreement must be accompanied by the release of all political prisoners and the improvement of the situation. Human rights should be relevant in the country.
