The White House claimed: We do not have extra patriots to send to Ukraine!
Despite the fact that the United States recently approved an unprecedented aid package to Ukraine, the National Security Advisor of the White House claimed in a dramatic gesture that the United States is not doing more to strengthen Kiev's defense capabilities. |
report Mehr News Agency quoted by Rashatoudi, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, referring to America’s reluctance to jeopardize and weaken the country’s security, said that Washington would instead focus on the European Union And NATO will pressurize them to share their defense capabilities with Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, recently requested “at least seven Patriot defense systems” from the western supporters of this country in a virtual meeting. However, it seems that the main supporter of Kiev has nothing to spare!
Sullivan said about this: Currently, America’s Patriot systems are being sent all over the world, including the Middle East, in order to protect our forces.
He added: If we are able to produce more Patriots, we will send them. However, we supply (to Ukraine) a large number of missiles used in these systems.
Sullivan continued: “Right now, what we’re going to do is work with and apply to our European and other partners around the world.” Let’s push to provide more defense systems to Ukraine.
The Pentagon yesterday included more Patriot ammunition in an “unprecedented” $6 billion US military aid package to Ukraine. However, it will take months, or perhaps years, for the defense systems to reach Ukraine because Washington does not intend to draw on its defense stockpile. Instead, the White House statement indicated that “the new package is the beginning of the contract process with the American defense industry.”
The production of a Patriot system “MIM-104” in the American “Raytion” arms company costs more than one billion dollars. Over the years, the United States has produced more than 1,100 Patriot missile launchers, and according to estimates, it has hundreds of active and inactive and covert systems. But it has sent only one “unit” of the Patriot system to Ukraine. Germany and the Netherlands have also provided two systems to this country.
