“John Bess” regional tour to consult about Afghanistan

According to the regional office of Tasnim News Agency, “John Bas” Acting Deputy Political Assistant of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started his 4-day regional trip to Qatar and Pakistan yesterday to consult about Afghanistan.
The last US Ambassador to Afghanistan is to discuss “supporting Afghanistan and common security interests in the region” in his regional tour, meeting with senior officials of the Qatari government and other diplomatic delegations in this country.
According to the announcement published by the US State Department, John Bess will also meet with senior Pakistani officials in Islamabad to discuss a wide range of regional and bilateral issues.
John Bess was previously the US ambassador in Kabul from 2017 to 2020.
This is the first visit of a senior official of the US Foreign Ministry regarding Afghanistan at the level of the political deputy of this ministry to the region, after the disgraceful withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan.
Before These consultations and regional meetings were conducted by “Tom West”, the US special representative for Afghanistan.
