12 reasons for Türkiye to fall on the spot
One of the international energy and economic experts believes that Turkey, after failing to achieve the goals of the 2023 vision document, should compile and publish the 20230 vision as soon as possible. |
According to the international group Tasnim News, these days in Turkey, everyone is talking about the economic crisis. they hit Because inflation has reached the highest level, every 1 US dollar is equal to 33 lira and the price of 1 liter of gasoline has exceeded 40 lira. However, Erdogan’s government and the Justice and Development Party do not have a definite road map to overcome this situation.
One of the international energy and economic experts believes that Turkey, after failing to achieve the goals of the 2023 vision document, should compile and publish the 2030 vision as soon as possible.
Mehmet Oghutchi, a graduate of economics in Turkey , England and America, he was an adviser to the Prime Minister during Turgut Özal’s era and then worked as an ambassador in several countries.
He is currently the manager of one of the most important groups related to oil and energy in London and studies It has focused on energy, the Middle East and Central Asia. Ogutchi, who is fluent in Chinese in addition to English and French, has written several books about the economic planning of countries.
He has examined the main structural problems of Turkey in the following note:
Turkey needs a new plan
On the surface, Turkey has many economic problems. But the fact is that Türkiye is a very rich country. But it needs a new 2030 vision. It really is. Even excluding refugees, with a population of 85 million, we are a middle-weight country in the world league.
Last year’s GDP exceeded $1 trillion for the first time. If you calculate it based on purchasing power parity, we seem to be among the top 10 economies in the world with 2.75 trillion dollars.
When we look at the world map, you see Turkey as a powerful country that In a wide geography from China to Germany, from Russia to Saudi Arabia, it is interesting in many ways such as population, economy, armed forces and human resources, and it has a high cultural richness.
We are with history, human capital, economic resources, nature, geography And our neighbors are uniquely rich and without a doubt, our potential is unlimited.
Turkey’s infrastructure is strong, even in some respects, not only from the countries of the Middle East and Eurasia, but also from many European countries. And the United States is also better.
Our healthcare system is also at a high level. We are among the leading countries in the transformation of green energy. But the question is: If we are a relatively rich country with such solid pillars and infrastructure, then why do we always face a series of big problems, some of which really lead us to depression and a sense of failure? Why is Turkey so outdated and still struggling with big problems?
I have several different answers to answer the above question, and I prefer I will categorize them as follows:
1. Due to management weakness, Turkey cannot allocate its resources sufficiently and intelligently to production, technology and productivity.
4. With the exception of a minority, our youth receive an education that is of low quality and does not allow them to play in the world league. And we see brain drain abroad. Because based on their talents, the promise of a satisfactory future is not presented. Important principles such as meritocracy, culture and art, human values, respect for nature, justice, security and sustainable development are not given importance. 7. Turkey is concerned with the environment and Historical heritage does not care and does not protect it, does not develop original architecture, and urban development is unplanned and confused, and the place of man and nature in it is unknown.
8. Turkey cannot implement a development model in which clean energy takes the first place, develops technology and smart industries, branding increase and bring the tourism income to the world championship league.
9. The Turkish government, instead of fueling polarization between the people, is not ready to accept a vision where common goals and excitement are well 10. Turkey’s administrative system is not related to the level of expectations and global principles of “good governance”. 11. Our government is not used to hiring to pursue competent employees, intelligent leaders and entrepreneurs in the new generation. 12. Turkey cannot create hope and excitement in its youth, and the sense of direction of the youth of our country is vague and It is unknown.
If you push your brain a little harder, this list can be expanded even further and more can be found. But overall, my point is, now that we have failed to meet the goals of Vision 2023, let’s do the right thing for Vision 2030.
In my opinion, if there is political will and a serious strategic framework is drawn, it is not difficult to solve most of the problems I mentioned above. As you know, we failed to reach the 2023 vision. Because there was a big gap between the reality and the goal. Because the mentioned vision was prepared without the consensus of the main actors of the country. As a result, the country’s and people’s resources were greatly wasted and the world conditions did not allow it.
In the current situation, a new realistic vision is needed that gives the country’s people, institutions, companies, and foreign actors a sense of direction.
In the age of technology that we live in now, it is not logical to think about a long-term plan and all the ways have become shorter. We should focus on the goals of the next 6 years, not 15 or 20 years from now.
So we should start moving towards the vision of Turkey 2030 together from today. This is necessary in order not to miss new opportunities in the global system. For my part, I had mentioned some of my suggestions, even if it was a drop in the ocean, in my book “Turkey’s Realistic Roadmap 2023”. Some of them have been accepted and implemented since 2002 by the governments emerging from the Justice and Development Party. But the final results were disappointing.
Now, keeping in mind the changing dynamics and the new global game, I am working on Vision 2030 and I believe that we all have to step up for the development of the country.
