According to Webangah News quoted by Tasnim News agency, the UNESCO organization praised the role of journalists in Gaza, giving it a world award. Freedom of the press was granted to Palestinian journalists covering the war in Gaza. According to Al Jazeera, UNESCO described the activities of these journalists as “brave” in light of the difficult conditions and dangers of the war. This award is worth 25 thousand US dollars and is awarded every year on May 3rd.
So far, 141 members of the media in Gaza have been martyred during the attacks of the occupying army. In the latest case, “Muhammad Bassam Al-Jamal”, a Palestinian journalist who was injured in an attack by Israeli fighters on his house in Al-Janina neighborhood in the east of Rafah, died due to the severity of his injuries on May 6.
