report Mehr News Agency quoted by Sputnik, Rigory Mashkov, Ambassador for Special Duties in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, announced on Monday the US plans to deploy medium-range and short-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region. It will inevitably lead to a missile arms race, and Russia will have to respond to new threats to its security and take measures to ensure it.
According to Mashkov, one of the measures to ensure Russia’s security in this area is nuclear deterrence.
He further added: It is clear that this does not bode well for global stability. America’s plans, if implemented, will inevitably trigger a strong wave of a multilateral missile arms race with all its consequences.
The Russian official also said: We, in turn, will have to respond to new threats to our security and take all necessary measures to ensure this, including If necessary, we will do in the field of nuclear deterrence. Finally, sensitive Russian facilities, including command centers and bases, may be exposed.”
