Philippines: We will not use offensive equipment against China

The President of the Philippines claimed that the country did not obey China and would not use "offensive equipment" against ships belonging to Beijing.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News According to TRT World, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, referring to the recent incident in the disputed waters in the South China Sea, He claimed that Manila, like Beijing, does not use offensive equipment in the face of Chinese ships.

Marcos, in response to the question of whether Manila would approve the Chinese Coast Guard’s use of water cannons against Philippine ships Whether he will retaliate or not, he claimed: We will not behave the same way as the Coast Guard and Chinese ships.

Marcos added: The mission of our Navy and Coast Guard is not to start or escalate tension. We have no desire to attack with water sprinklers or any other type of offensive equipment. Escalation (in disputed waters) is the last thing that Manila will be looking for.

Beijing aims to assert its ownership over the major part of the vital “Scarborough” waterway in the South China Sea. It has sent hundreds of coast guards and patrol ships to the disputed waters. In the latest confrontation on April 30, Manila claimed that Beijing’s coast guard damaged a ship belonging to the Philippine coast guard by using water cannons.

According to Marcos, Manila will continue to respond diplomatically to Beijing on the incidents in the South China Sea.
