According to the foreign policy reporter of Tasnim news agency, today On Tuesday, May 18, Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, and Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, consulted with each other on the second day of the Iran International Conference on Nuclear Sciences and Technologies in Isfahan.
After this meeting, Eslami and Grossi appeared in a joint press conference to answer questions from the media.
Grosi in a joint meeting with Mohammad Eslami, The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said regarding the consultations: “It is a great honor to be present in the city of Isfahan today.” During my stay, I had important meetings with the minister and his deputy in Tehran yesterday, and now we are in a sensitive process. We had intensive consultations last night and today to take mutual steps.
He continued: More than a year ago, we agreed to issue a statement to determine the future path. That document was important. The document also addresses what is needed to resolve the remaining issues and identifies additional steps the parties should take. Despite the shortcomings, steps have been taken and the provisions of the document are valid. It is necessary for us to take operational steps and I made a proposal to Iran. In a separate meeting, the teams of the parties are defining the additional steps.
Grossi said in response to a question about the March statement between Iran and the IAEA and its effect on resolving the issues: Our intention is not to produce a new document and our basis is the March statement. These are the operational steps we have taken to take. The joint statement has the capacity to resolve the remaining issues. We agreed on concrete and operational steps to implement the joint statement.
In response to a question about the role of the Zionist regime in destroying the relations between Iran and the Agency, the IAEA Director General said: Iran is concerned about the role of Israel. We do not pay attention to foreign actors and consider the role of Iran. We are designing measures with Iran to remove any doubts, we are moving the cooperation in the right direction. In withdrawing from the JCPOA, America said: This is what we are working on. We must cooperate to return to the previous path and facilitate the revival of the JCPOA or any other document that Iran wants to enter into. We now know what actions need to be taken and we are coordinating.
