A diplomat, referring to the visit of a high-ranking Russian delegation to Sudan, said: During this trip, the two sides discussed military cooperation and gold extraction from Sudan’s mines.
This diplomat, who did not want to be named, told the reporter of the Sudan Tribune newspaper: During this trip, Russian officials promised high-ranking commanders that Moscow will provide modern weapons and military equipment to the Sudanese army and in the field of modernization of the defense system. According to the diplomat, the army commanders assured the Russian delegation that they are studying and working to respond to Moscow’s request to establish a Russian military base in Port Sudan port (Red Sea coast).
