Senator James Beard, a senior Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Mitch McCall, a senior Republican member. The Foreign Relations Committee of the US House of Representatives published the results of their investigations in their letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country citing the “lack of information about the official investigation regarding Robert Mali”.
The letter of these two representatives states that “Due to the evasion and lack of transparency of the (Foreign) Ministry, we tried to collect our information from other sources. Our investigation reveals the following information and disturbing claims. We ask you to confirm the information we have obtained.”
James Reisch and Mitch McConnell are asking the State Department to confirm that Robert Mali’s security clearance was suspended because of “It is said that he transferred confidential documents to his email account and downloaded and stored these documents on his personal phone.”
According to the Washington Post last year when Robert Mali was fired, Iran’s Tehran Times revealed that “Mally is now under federal investigation for mishandling the preservation of classified documents, but Rish and McConnell claim to have uncovered more details.”
In the letter of Rish and McConnell, the US State Department is also asked to confirm the belief and opinion that “A hostile cyber agent managed to gain access to his (Robert Mali’s) mobile phone or email and obtain the information downloaded on the phone.”
