According to the regional office of Tasnim News Agency, the US Army Central Command (CENTCOM) announced ” General Michael Eric Kurila, the commander of this headquarters, met and discussed with the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army and some army commanders during his trip to Islamabad. He has also visited several areas bordering Afghanistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to this report, this American general discussed the fight against terrorism, regional security, and military cooperation with Pakistan Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir. And Daemi has exchanged views with Pakistan.
This report added that the commander of Centcom in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province had a meeting with military commanders about anti-terrorism operations along the common borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
General Kurila emphasized in this meeting: “I am looking forward to strengthening the military cooperation with Pakistan for the past several decades”.
Dawn News also reported in May of last year that “David Helvey”, the US Deputy Secretary of Defense, told the Senate Armed Services Committee Pakistan had allowed the United States to have military access to Afghanistan through its airspace.
