According to foreign policy reporter Tasnim News Agency, today, Tuesday, May 25, the general meeting of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament, chaired by Ali Bahraini, ambassador and permanent representative of Iran was held in Geneva.

In this meeting, the sixth item of the agenda of the “Comprehensive Disarmament Program” with the topic “Relation between disarmament and development” was discussed.

The plenary session began with roundtable presentations, followed by an interactive discussion on disarmament and development.

2024 Session of the Conference on Disarmament According to the rules of procedure, the conference will be held in three sections of 10, 7 and 7 weeks from 2 Bahman 1402 to 23 Shahrivar 1403 (23 January to 13 September 2024).

The presidents of this year’s conference, in alphabetical order, include India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, and the Israeli regime. And meetings were held during this period under the Bahraini presidency.

The second part of Iran’s presidency is from May 24 to June 4.

During his presidency, Iran tried to hold panels on some disarmament issues. Among the most important of them is the examination of the challenges and obstacles to the realization of a Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction and negative security guarantees. It is a weapon of the United Nations.
