On February 18-19, 2024, the United Nations Secretary General held the second Afghanistan conference in Doha, Qatar. Representatives from 25 countries, international organizations, Afghan civil society and women’s groups participated with the aim of efforts for inclusive peace.

In May 2023, the United Nations held the first Afghanistan conference without the participation of the Taliban in Doha. Despite the invitation of the Taliban for the second conference, they rejected this offer and demanded to hand over the seat of the UN representative, which the Secretary General considered unacceptable.
