Pakistan: We have not yet decided on the reopening of the Kharlachi crossing
Despite the cessation of border clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani border guards, a Pakistani official announced that a decision has not yet been made on the reopening of the "Kharlachi" border crossing. |
According to the regional office of Tasnim news agency
, a Pakistani official told Anatolia news agency that despite the cessation of clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani border guards, the “Kharlachi” border crossing is still closed for the seventh consecutive day and a decision has not yet been made on its reopening.
The Kharlachi Pass, which connects Pakistan’s tribal region to Afghanistan’s Paktia province, was blocked last week following a clash between Taliban and Pakistan border forces.
These clashes continued for four days until last Monday, the two sides agreed on a ceasefire with the mediation of tribal elders.
“Haji Rawd”, head of a trade union, told Anatoly that hundreds of trucks loaded with various goods, including perishable items, are waiting for the crossing to reopen on both sides of the border.
According to him, daily about 100 to 150 cargo vehicles enter Pakistan through Kharlachi crossing and Afghanistan, and the blocking of the border crossing has caused losses to the traders of both sides.
