Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Union Commission, supported the move. He wrote on the X platform: We need fewer joint projects. For example, an air defense shield proposed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Donald Tusk.
Tusk and Mitsotakis want to support their proposal at the next EU-27 summit in June.
