Russia’s attempt to remove the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations

The special representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan announced Moscow's efforts to remove the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations in his country.

report Mehr News Agency, according to Rianosti news agency, the proposal to remove the Taliban from the status of a terrorist group was submitted to the Kremlin for decision by “Putin”, this Monday.

According to the announcement of this media, Zamir Kabulov, the special representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan affairs, in a conversation with Rianavosti, announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of his country are investigating the possible elimination of the movement. “Taliban” (a group under the sanctions of the United Nations) have completed the situation of identifying it as a terrorist group in Russia. According to him, the relevant proposal has been submitted to the Kremlin.

According to the report of Anatolia news agency, the special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for Afghanistan affairs in Moscow announced to reporters that the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia have proposed to the Kremlin Palace that To remove the Taliban from the list of banned terrorist organizations in this country.

Saying that the work of these two ministries on removing the status of the Taliban as a terrorist group has been completed and the results of the work have been transferred to the Kremlin Palace, Kablov said: We look at this issue positively. and this is a necessary process before recognizing the Taliban government. Therefore, this issue is being evaluated. All issues have been transferred to the senior Russian official and we are waiting for a decision in this regard.

It should be said that Kabulov, Putin’s special representative for Afghanistan affairs, had already announced the possibility of recognizing the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2022.

In 2003, Russia included the Taliban in its list of banned terrorist organizations.
