In the statement of the Irish government, it is stated that “we announce the official recognition of the State of Palestine and the establishment of full diplomatic relations between Dublin and Ramallah.”
The Irish government also emphasized that it will soon appoint an ambassador to Palestine.
A few hours ago, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez officially announced Madrid’s recognition of the independent state of Palestine.
Sanchez said in this speech: Spain joins more than 140 countries that have recognized Palestine as an independent country.
He added: The recognition of the Palestinian state is not only a historical necessity, but also a way to achieve peace. Our point of view regarding the recognition of the Palestinian state is in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations and the position of the European Union.
Sanchez continued: Our decision to recognize Palestine is not an action against Israel or in support of Hamas. Pedro Sanchez also said: The current priority is to end the unprecedented crisis in Gaza and the crossings must be opened to send humanitarian aid to this strip. We must immediately end the escalation of the crisis in the Gaza Strip and establish a ceasefire. We are committed to security in the region and will cooperate with Arab countries to hold a peace conference.
