According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency, ” Amir Saeed Irwani, the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, in the meeting of the United Nations Security Council regarding: “The situation in the Middle East: (Syria), stated that the humanitarian and economic situation in the Syrian Arab Republic is still dire and the Syrian people They are suffering from deep economic challenges.

The text of the Iranian representative’s speech is as follows:

In the Name of God Al-Rahim

Mr. President, thank you
We congratulate you for assuming the presidency of the Security Council for Mozambique this month and for successfully managing the Security Council.

Continuation of the destructive policy of unilateral sanctions, the situation of the most vulnerable It aggravates the layers of the society and only leads to prolonging the crisis and increasing the sufferings of the Syrian people.

The West seeks to achieve its goals at any cost

Unfortunately, Western countries ignore the dire situation and continue to pursue their political goals at any cost. They use sanctions as a means to achieve their goals, even at the cost of ordinary people’s suffering.

Due to the complex and extensive nature of unilateral sanctions, purported humanitarian exemptions are often ineffective and ineffective. We welcome the Syrian government’s independent decision to extend the authorization to the United Nations and its specialized agencies to use the Bab al-Salamah and al-Ra’i crossings for another three months until August 13, 2024, to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in northwestern Syria.

We hope this support will ensure adequate and predictable funding and that donors will honor their commitments. We applaud the tireless efforts of UN agencies and humanitarian partners in their work to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.

However, preventing the diversion of aid to terrorist organizations in the northwest region and ensuring transparent and non-discriminatory distribution of aid , are fundamental aspects that require attention.

We also emphasize the need for unhindered humanitarian access through transit routes and full coordination with the Syrian government. Providing immediate assistance is critical, but not a sustainable solution in the long term.

Efforts should focus on rebuilding critical infrastructure to enable the safe return of refugees and internally displaced persons.
Considering the burden that neighboring countries, especially Lebanon, have borne during the crisis, the return of refugees and displaced persons to their homes in Syria should not be politicized or used as a lever of pressure against the Syrian government.

Mr. President,

As we have said many times, the crisis in the Syrian Arab Republic cannot be resolved without fully respecting the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country. be resolved.

The restoration of the territorial integrity of Syria requires continuous efforts to fight against all terrorist groups. However, it is necessary to prioritize the protection of civilians during counter-terrorism efforts.

Mr. President,
The Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to a political solution to the situation in Syria and will continue to support a fully Syrian-centered and Syrian-led political process facilitated by the United Nations and will help the Syrian people and government to restore the unity and territorial integrity of their country.

As we have said, it is necessary to resume the meetings of the Constitutional Committee as an effective mechanism to advance the political process in Syria. In this context, we remain committed to our support for the Special Representative’s efforts and his engagement with all parties. In addition, together with our partners in the form of Astana, we are committed to working for long-term and sustainable normalization in and around Syria.

Mr. President,

The occupying Israeli regime continues to commit aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and targets civilians and critical infrastructure.

We strongly condemn these illegal actions as provocative actions, which violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, the UN Charter and international laws, and only lead to the escalation of tensions and the weakening of stability in Syria and the region.

Despite the repeated requests of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Security Council did not take any action in response to these illegal actions and did not even condemn them.

The recent killing of displaced people of Gaza in the Rafah camp by this regime on May 26 showed once again that the Israeli regime has crossed all the red lines, international humanitarian law and the basic principles of international law, UN Security Council resolutions and binding orders of the International Court of Justice. has clearly violated justice. All these violations have been carried out with the full support of the United States and with complete immunity.

The international community and especially the Security Council, as the main body responsible for maintaining international peace and security, have only watched these massive violations.

We strongly request the Security Council to abandon the policy of tolerance and take decisive and immediate action to hold the Israeli regime accountable and force it to immediately stop its military aggression. Slow down.

Mr. Chairman, we categorically deny the allegations made by the US representative at this meeting. The US tried to deny its responsibility in the current situation in Syria and the wider region by falsely accusing Iran.

The US claims to protect civilians and humanitarian law respects international law, but continues its failed policies against Syria using sanctions as tools at the expense of ordinary people.

Iran is always a positive part of regional developments. and has followed the path of stability, peace and sustainable security, including the fight against terrorism in the region.

Irvani: We will preserve the legacy of Raisi and Amir Abdollahian
