According to “Wall Street Journal”, Grossi described this conversation constructively and stated: After the incident (testimony of the President and Foreign Minister), what happened and wait for a cautious period to reconnect. I intended to reconnect with him as Acting Secretary of State and express my desire to continue.
In response to a question about the efforts of European countries to pass a resolution against Iran at the meeting of the Council of Governors, he clarified: I must be completely neutral in this regard.
Grossi continued: I don’t believe in pressure. I believe in persuasion. I have to convince Iran that this (engagement) is the best course of action. Trust does not exist by itself, it must be created. I am ready to fulfill my duties in this regard with respect to Iran’s sovereignty.
He pointed out that we have concerns about Iran’s nuclear activities and claimed: We think it is unacceptable to talk about nuclear weapons, as some people do in Iran. We say that in this situation, we have a knowledge gap.
Grossi also pointed to his meeting and consultation in Iran with Shahid Amir Abdollahian and said: He confirmed that Iran adheres to “NPT” and has no plans to do something different.
He continued in response to a question about whether cooperation with the Agency may end with the issuance of a resolution against Iran. , stated: I have no doubt that Iran will continue to cooperate with the Agency. It is a legal obligation… they are a member state. They are a party to the NPT agreement.
Grossi also stated that we will continue the work and we should work with the new authorities after the Iranian elections.
