Iran became the head of the Public Affairs Committee of the International Labor Conference

According to the foreign policy group Tasnim news agency, Mehdi Ali Abadi, the deputy representative of Iran in Geneva, was chosen by the member governments of the International Labor Organization (ILO) to become the head of the public affairs committee of the 112th International Labor Conference. 

The mission of this committee in this round of the international labor conference is to discuss and discuss the cancellation of 4 conventions regarding women’s work underground, construction safety regulations, The statistics of wages and working hours and labor inspection will be in non-metropolitan areas. 

According to the constitution of the International Labor Organization, the conference can, by an absolute majority vote, abolish conventions that have lost their purpose or do not contribute to the achievement of the goals of the organization. , approve.

Abrogation of these four conventions is part of the process of revising the organization’s standards to have a set of strong and up-to-date international labor standards.

The Public Affairs Committee is the most important subsidiary decision-making arm of the International Labor Conference. Representatives of governments, labor groups and employer groups from 28 member countries of the International Labor Organization and their deputies are members of the committee. 

The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the founding countries and active members of the International Labor Organization, which has been a member of the board of directors for the past 26 years and the coordinator of the group in the last year. Asia Pacific has been in this organization.

The 112th session of the International Labor Conference officially started in Geneva on June 14.
