The government of Ecuador announced that the nationwide blackout that left hospitals, homes and subway lines without electricity for hours was due to the failure of one of the transmission cables.

Ecuadorian Energy Minister Roberto Loco wrote on the “X” network that the national electricity operator reported the failure, which subsequently led to a cascade connection and more than 17 It put millions of people in total blackout.
