15 police officers were killed in terrorist attacks in Dagestan

According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting “Novosti” news agency, Sergei Melikov, the president of the “Republic of Dagestan” announced this morning, Monday, that the number of policemen killed in last night’s terrorist attacks in this republic has increased to 15 people. According to him, 25 other people were also injured in this incident.

Melikov said in a video message on his Telegram channel: “More than 15 police officers were victims of the heinous terrorist attack last night.” were defending peace and tranquility in Dagestan together. Several civilians also lost their lives during the clashes and following the attack on completely peaceful targets.” With the attack of armed men in Makhachkala and Derbent in this republic, three days of public mourning have been announced from today, Monday, in memory of the victims of this terrorist incident. 

Last night, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee announced that during the anti-terrorist operation, five armed terrorists were killed in the Republic of Dagestan and 6 others were injured and arrested. This committee has not provided other details of this special operation.

In this regard, Dagestan President Sergey Melikov also emphasized that the security forces have identified the sleeper cells of the terrorist forces in Preparations for these attacks, including from outside Russia, will continue. According to him, the active phase of anti-terrorist operations in Dagestan has ended and the situation in this republic is fully controlled by security organizations and law enforcement officers.

Melikov added that The families of those killed and injured in the terrorist attacks in Makhachkala and Derbent will receive financial aid.
