The sister of the former president of the United States, who was present during the protests in Kenya yesterday (Tuesday), was shot with tear gas.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, according to Reuters, Aoma Obama, the half-sister of former US President Barack Obama, was targeted by tear gas during yesterday’s protests in front of the Kenyan Parliament building in Nairobi.

The Kenyan police, trying to disperse the demonstrators in front of the Parliament of Kenya, opened fire on the protesters and during the clashes, at least 10 people were killed and dozens were injured, and parts of The parliament building was also set on fire while the legislators present in the parliament had approved the tax increase bill.

The video images published by CNN show that one of the network’s reporters pulled Aoma Obama, who is a political activist, away from her in the middle of the crowd. He asks about the reason for his presence.

He, who started coughing under the influence of tear gas, replied: You see the situation and the reason for my presence is this situation! Kenyan youths have demonstrated to get their rights and they have done it with flags and banners. They fired gas at us and I can’t even see in front of my feet!

The man standing behind Obama is holding a banner that reads ‘Colonialism never ended in Kenya’.

Barack Obama’s office has not issued any statement or reacted about Auma Obama’s participation in these demonstrations or the violence in Kenya.
