The Secretary General of the United Nations officially put Israel on the black list of children’s rights violators

In his annual report titled "Children in Armed Conflicts", the UN Secretary General officially placed Israel's name on the black list of children's rights violators in the world.

Mrs. Virginia Gamba, the UN Secretary General’s special representative for children and armed conflicts, read the annual report on children in armed conflicts on Wednesday local time (July 6, 1403 equal to June 26, 2024) at the Security Council meeting and said: Assessing the severe violations committed against children, the Secretary General of the United Nations has included the Israeli armed and security forces in the list of children’s rights violators for killing and maiming children and attacking schools and hospitals.

The special representative of the UN Secretary General stated: The situation of children and armed conflicts with the highest number of serious violations of their rights during 2023, in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, Somalia, Nigeria and Sudan. In Myanmar, we saw a 123% increase in serious violations against children’s rights.

Ms. Gamba stated: “The conflict in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel has escalated to an unprecedented scale and has caused unimaginable suffering to thousands of children. I am horrified by the killing, maiming and kidnapping of children by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups and the number of children killed and injured by the Israeli armed and security forces in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. The total number of violations of children’s rights in this region has increased by 155%, and 8,099 cases of serious violations against 4,360 children have been confirmed.
