According to a CNN poll, 67% of registered voters who watched the presidential debate between the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and the former President of the country, Donald Trump, consider Trump to be the winner of the debate.
Before the debate, 55 percent of the same group expected Trump to do better than Biden. The results of this poll reflect the opinions of voters who watched the debate closely. 57% of them said they did not trust Biden’s ability to lead the country, and 44% said they did not trust Trump’s ability to do so. Additionally, after the debate, 36 percent of debate watchers said they had a lot of confidence in Trump’s presidency, compared to 14 percent for Biden.
The poll was conducted with 565 registered voters in the United States who said they watched the debate Thursday night US time.
The first debate between Biden and Trump was held in the studio of the CNN television network in Atlanta, Georgia, with the presence of two well-known CNN presenters, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. This debate lasted 100 minutes and included two breaks with commercials, and during its holding, the two candidates’ campaign teams could not interact with them.
Televised debates have long been an important part of the US presidential campaign and have marked historic moments for the candidates. The current and former presidents of the United States faced each other outside the safe environment of their office in the White House, and millions of Americans and the public opinion of the world witnessed this historic debate.
Trump has been one of the prominent figures of the Republican Party since 2016, when he became the President of the United States for the first time, who lost to his Democratic rival Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Americans will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 (November 15, 1403) to elect the next president of the United States. The winner of this election will start the four-year presidential term from January 2025.
