The Pentagon’s emphasis on the continuation of strategic flights over the Black Sea

A Pentagon spokesman said: “We will continue to fly, sail and operate in international waters and spaces where the law allows.”

The Ministry of Defense of Russia had previously announced that the intensity of American strategic drone flights over the Black Sea has increased. The ministry warned about the increasing intervention of the United States and NATO countries in the conflict in Ukraine and the increase in the possibility of incidents in the airspace and the risks of direct conflict with Russia. 

Russia has repeatedly warned about the flight of American surveillance drones over the Black Sea and the violation of the integrity of Russian waters. In some cases, Russian fighter jets have intercepted and expelled American spy drones from Russian waters.
