The arrest of a core of the PKK terrorist group in Iraq
The spokesman of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced today (Monday): Our security forces succeeded in arresting a central core of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group. These people are suspected of planning a terrorist attack in Iraq.
According to the Reuters news agency, Iraqi officials say that these people planned to carry out terrorist operations in different areas of Iraq, especially in the oil lines in the north that transported the country’s oil to Turkey.
Preliminary investigations show that these terrorists were looking to sabotage the Jihoon oil lines that transport oil from Kirkuk and Erbil for export to Turkey. These people have also admitted to deliberately setting fires in commercial markets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq during the past few months.
These fires have caused more than 300 million dollars in damage. The PKK terrorist group has carried out these actions with the aim of hitting Turkey in Iraq.
Iran, Türkiye, and Iraq consider the PKK terrorist organization. This institution with Marxist thinking seeks the independence of Kurdish region in Türkiye. This movement has been engaged in an armed struggle with the Turkish government since 1984, and since then 40,000 people have lost their lives as a result of this conflict.
