Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mao Ning confirmed on Tuesday that NATO interferes in China’s internal affairs and distorts China’s domestic and foreign policies, as well as challenges its security.

Previously, Chinese Defense Minister Li Changfu warned against the creation of a NATO-like military alliance in the Asia-Pacific region. During the Shangri-La Security Forum in Singapore, he said that trying to strengthen NATO-like alliances in the Asia-Pacific region is a way to kidnap countries in the region.

This Chinese official added that “this will only lead to the collapse of the Asia-Pacific region into a whirlwind of disputes and conflicts.”

The Chinese minister pointed out that the US accuses some countries in the East Asian region of intensifying the arms race and deliberately interfering in the internal affairs of others, and stated: The Cold War mentality has now revived and the security risks have increased dramatically.
