UNRWA’s response to the displacement of 250,000 Palestinians from Khan Yunis

UNRWA condemned the order of the Zionist authorities on the “forced displacement” of 250,000 Palestinians in Khan Yunis.

The UN’s Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) has condemned Israel’s latest order to evacuate Khan Yunis and said that about 250,000 people must flee Khan Yunis, “although nowhere in Gaza is safe.”

UNRWA wrote in X: “Just a few weeks after people were forced to return to the devastated Khan Yunis, the Israeli authorities issued a new evacuation order for the area. In this situation, families face forced displacement.” 

Previously, Philip Lazzarini, UNRWA’s Commissioner General, drew attention to the displacement of more than 80% of the population of Gaza in an announcement on X social network. Pointing out that 17,000 children in Gaza were left without support or separated from their families, he said: “During the 4-month war in Gaza, nearly 100,000 people were killed, injured or missing. This is roughly equivalent to 5 percent of the total population of Gaza.” 

Emphasizing that the conflicts in Gaza continue, Lazzarini stated: “The war has continued without interruption, but there will be no winner. There will be only pain, misery and sorrow.”
