Hungary’s proposal to Ukraine for a ceasefire
The expansion of NATO to Russia’s borders and the neglect of the United States and its allies to Moscow’s interests ultimately caused the crisis in Ukraine in February 2014 and the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula to this country. The continuation of the illusions of the Western authorities and the attempt to limit Russia’s freedom of action in the international system caused the start of the Ukraine war on February 24, 2022; A bloody conflict in which Ukraine is the biggest loser.
According to the Reuters news agency, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is known for his good relations with Russia, visited Kiev today (Tuesday) and met and talked with the President of this country, Volodymyr Zelensky.
During this meeting, Orban proposed to Zelensky a ceasefire with Russia and wanted to expand relations with Ukraine.
Hungarian Prime Minister said: I appreciate Zelenskiy’s efforts to promote peace by holding the Swiss peace meeting in May. I suggested to the President of Ukraine to consider a ceasefire in order to develop peace talks to reach an agreement with Russia.
He added: I believe that a ceasefire with a deadline can increase the speed of reaching peace. I raised this issue with Zelensky and I am very grateful that he had an honest answer and discussion about it.
However, Zelensky refused to talk about this issue at the press conference. He said: “Ukraine and Hungary are looking for the development of cooperation and economic relations.” Our talks today can be a basis for developing cooperation in all fields.
