BBC host: Kill Trump!
“David Aronovitch”, the BBC news presenter, in a message on the X social network (former Twitter) called for the killing of “Donald Trump”, the candidate for the 2024 American elections. Then, in the face of widespread criticism of his statements, he deleted his message and called it a “joke”.
Aronovitch, who is the presenter of one of the programs of the BBC news network, wrote in this message: “If I were in Biden’s place, I would not miss the opportunity and kill Trump because of the threat he poses to the security of the United States.” In this message, he mentioned the recent ruling of the US Supreme Court, which has considered at least some legal immunity for Trump.
The presenter’s message met with widespread reactions in cyberspace and users accused him of promoting violence. Aaronovitch, however, claimed that his message was “obviously satirical”.
On Monday, the US Supreme Court ruled that “under the separation of powers system… the president enjoys at least some immunity from prosecution for his ‘official acts’ while in office.” However, a clear definition for formal or informal actions is not provided, and this issue can create difficult questions.
