A Norwegian was arrested on suspicion of spying for China
According to Mehr News Agency to Quoting from Agence France-Presse, the Norwegian secret service announced the arrest of a Norwegian man suspected of trying to spy for China.
“Thomas Blom” (Thomas Blom), the spokesman of the counter-espionage unit of the Norwegian Secret Service, told reporters in this regard that the arrest of this person was made at the Oslo International Airport while the said suspect had returned from China.
On the other hand, Norway’s “NBT” news agency reported today, citing the country’s internal security agency, that a Norwegian citizen was arrested on suspicion of spying for China.
The identity of this person has not been revealed yet.
According to “NBT”, this citizen, who is suspected of carrying out intelligence activities including actions related to state secrets, will appear at the court session in Oslo later this Tuesday.
According to the Euronews TV channel, Norway’s Internal Security Service claimed in its annual threat assessment published in February that China will be a “significant intelligence threat” to Oslo in 2024!
In this assessment, it was claimed: The reason for this issue, especially the deterioration of relations between China and the West, is China’s desire to have more control over supply chains and positioning in the Arctic!
