The resignation of another American official due to the Gaza war
Maryam Hassanin, an employee of the US Ministry of Interior, resigned from her position on Tuesday evening in protest against the policy of the administration of President Joe Biden regarding the Zionist regime’s war in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Al-Mayadin report, Hasnain is originally Muslim and one of Biden’s political appointees in the US Department of the Interior. This resignation is the third resignation of its kind in the recent period due to the support of the US government to the Zionist regime in the Gaza war.
He wrote in a statement published on his platform X page: It has become clear to me that I have no place in this government. I cannot continue to serve in a government that finances and enables Israel to commit genocide against the Palestinians. Today I resigned from the Biden administration and this is my statement.
Lily Greenberg Cole, another Interior Department political appointee, resigned in May and Tariq Habash, a Palestinian American, resigned from his post at the Department of Education in January.
Other public resignations include Josh Paul, the Foreign Service official who oversaw US arms shipments to Israel, who criticized the speed and lack of oversight of deliveries that expanded after Oct. 7.
Maryam Hassanin’s resignation took place after 12 former US officials who resigned from the administration of the US president due to the war with Gaza and issued a statement in which they asked the remaining officials in the government to challenge their leaders and to be complicit. Don’t be their genocide.
These officials, who previously resigned due to Biden’s controversial approach, said in their first joint statement that Biden’s failed policy failed to achieve its stated goals and was devastating to the Palestinian people and contributed to a vicious cycle of poverty. And despair resulted, all these consequences will affect the future generations.
