The Ukrainian army retreated from the strategic area of Chasfyar
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, according to Reuters, the spokesman of the Ukrainian army issued a statement on Thursday announcing the withdrawal of Ukrainian soldiers from Chasef Yar area in the east of Donetsk.
The area of Chasef Yar has been one of the sensitive areas of the battle between the Ukrainian army and the Russian army in recent months, which is of high strategic importance.
Chasef Yar (Aram Valley), which had a population of over 12,000 before the war, is located in the Donbas industrial region of Donetsk province, one of the four regions that The Russians have annexed them to their territory in this war.
The pre-war economy of this region was mostly based on factories that produced products such as concrete and non-refractory clay. Products such as bricks are also produced from these materials. This place, which is located at a higher altitude, has served as one of the artillery bases of the Ukrainian army.
Russian military analysts have classified the cities of Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Drozhkivka, and Kostyantynivka as “fortress cities” in eastern Ukraine accessible from Chasfyar.
The Washington-based think tank Institute for War Studies (IWS) describes these cities as the “backbone” of the Ukrainian military’s defense in the east. In a brief note, ISW writes: An aggressive effort to capture Chasaf Yar offers the most immediate prospect for significant operational improvements to Russian forces.
