Afghanistan seeks to obtain more gas resources
According to Mehr News Ministry Afghanistan Mines and Oil has signed a contract with a Turkish company to drill two wells at a cost of 7.5 million dollars in Jawzjan province. The head of this ministry said: 100,000 cubic meters of gas are harvested from these reserves daily, and each 1,000 cubic meters of gas is sold for $200. He added: We also have active wells, and with the drilling of two new wells, daily extraction will reach one million cubic meters of gas.
He also pointed to efforts to conclude contracts with other gas-bearing regions of Afghanistan with large companies in the near future and said: With the exploration and extraction of these gas reserves, Afghanistan will be among the important oil countries. He further expressed his hope that Afghanistan will become self-sufficient with the investment of one billion dollars.
The head of the company that won this contract said: To drill these wells, we will bring 20 engineers from Turkey and we will also hire 40 to 50 people from inside Afghanistan.
