The Paris prosecutor's office has opened an investigation against the leader of the National Front parliamentary party on suspicion of illegal financing of his 2022 French presidential campaign.

France’s BFM television network, quoting informed sources, revealed that the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office has recently opened a judicial investigation into the suspected illegal financing of the campaign of far-right French leader Marine Le Pen in the 2022 election campaign.

According to the report of RT, according to this TV channel, the investigation was started after the complaint of the National Commission of Accounts of Election Campaigns and Political Finance. According to this TV channel, Marine Le Pen was not the only one who seemed suspicious about the election campaigns, but a judicial investigation was started against her.

Under French law, during any election, candidates are prohibited from exceeding the limit set by law. The National Campaign and Political Finance Commission reviews each candidate’s campaign accounts and campaign accounts to see if they’re staying on track.
