Sanders’ announcement of support for Joe Biden
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, regarding the new controversies surrounding the U.S. president’s withdrawal from the next election, called for “an end to the Democrats’ argument” and said that although Biden is not the ideal candidate, he should still be chosen as the official candidate of the Democrats.
According to TASS news agency, Sanders said: “I know that Biden is old. He walks hard and he did disastrously in the debate [with Donald Trump]. “He may not be the ideal candidate, but he should run for election.”
The US presidential election will be held in November this year. Previously, it was assumed that Biden’s official nomination would be confirmed in August, but after his disastrous debate against Donald Trump, it is possible to change the party’s candidate. So far, 20 congressional lawmakers have publicly requested Biden’s resignation. On the other hand, some financial supporters of the Democratic Party have threatened that they will not pay the amounts they had committed to the election campaigns if Biden does not step down. It is said that these amounts are more than 90 million dollars.
The President of the United States reiterated yesterday that he will not withdraw from the competition. “I think I am the most qualified person to run for the presidency,” he told reporters at the NATO summit. I defeated Trump once and I will defeat him again”.
