Explosives discovered in Trump’s attacker’s car
Following the unsuccessful assassination of the former US president, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing anonymous sources, that explosives were found in the car of the man who tried to assassinate Donald Trump.
According to this newspaper, the car driven by “Thomas Mathew Crooks”, Trump’s attacker, was parked near the speech yesterday. On the other hand, new reports indicate that the gun used for the shooting was bought by the father of the assailant.
The political orientation of Trump’s 20-year-old assailant is still unknown. Killed by the Secret Service, he was previously identified as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania. However, federal campaign finance reports show he donated $15 to a Democratic campaign in 2021.
Trump, who survived the assassination, says that he is doing well and in a post on his social network known as Truth Social, he asked his fans to unite.
While mass shootings are a regular feature of American life, this is the first shooting of a president or major party candidate since the assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
