NATO Secretary General did not accept Poland’s offer
Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg rejected the idea of Poland intercepting Russian missiles in Ukrainian airspace.
According to Arti’s report, Stoltenberg answered a question about this idea while participating in a TV program in Ukraine and said: NATO’s policy has not changed, we will not support Ukraine in the destruction of Russian planes.
Earlier, Reuters reported, citing Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk, that Warsaw wanted to discuss whether it could launch missiles over Ukraine at a NATO meeting in Washington, while Władysław Kuciniak , the Polish Minister of Defense confirmed that Poland will do this.
A week ago, Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed that the joint security agreement signed by Ukraine with Poland provides for the creation of a mechanism to intercept missiles in Ukrainian airspace.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in a speech at the American Institute for Public Policy Research last Thursday: “At this point, it’s (just) an idea that the NETA agreement (with Ukraine) stipulates.” will take.
Sikorsky stated that some of the Russian missiles fired at Ukrainian targets entered Polish airspace for 40 seconds before heading towards their targets.
He said: Our problem is that if we shoot it down when it enters our airspace, the debris will be a threat to our citizens and property.
He pointed out that the Ukrainians do not mind doing this in their airspace when there is an imminent danger of crossing (those missiles) to the territory of Poland, adding: I think this is self-defense, but we study this We do the idea.
