Iran sanctions have been extended for another year

The European Union has extended the sanctions against Iran for another year by repeating baseless claims about Iran’s role in providing military support to Russia in the war with Ukraine, as well as equipping Islamic resistance groups in the region.

According to the website of the European Union, the sanctions against Iran have been extended until July 27, 2025 (August 5, 1404). These sanctions, which are reviewed annually, include 12 individuals and 9 Iranian/Iran-related entities.

According to the issued statement, the assets of the sanctioned individuals and institutions were frozen and the companies and citizens of the European Union were prohibited from financial dealings with them. Also, sanctioned natural persons do not have the right to travel to the member countries and their entry or transit to these countries is prohibited.

Iranian and Russian officials have repeatedly rejected the claims of military cooperation in connection with the war in Ukraine, however, the European Union imposed a series of sanctions against Tehran since the summer of last year, staged by the Zionist regime and pressured by the opponents of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Last May, this union intensified the sanctions against Iran in the shadow of Operation True Promise, in order to target individuals and institutions that are active in the field of transferring Iran’s missiles and drones.

Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country, previously criticized the double behavior of the European Union and stated: This Union, which has been passive and inactive in dealing with the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and Palestine for the past months, has been criticized by the opinion on this basis. Kanaani added: It is regrettable that the European Union, by resorting to repeated, absurd and baseless excuses and accusations, ignoring the realities on the ground in West Asia, and continuing its failed and ineffective approach, once again resorted to the outdated and ineffective tool of sanctions. It has resorted to the powerful Iran and preferred the satisfaction of the Zionist regime and the United States over the interests of the European Union and nations.
