A ship was targeted off the coast of Yemen
The British Navy’s Merchant Marine Transport Coordination Center (UKMTO) said the ship that was attacked on Monday in the Red Sea was damaged, but its crew was unharmed.
This incident happened 97 nautical miles northwest of the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah.
The captain of this ship reported an attack by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that hit the left side of the ship and caused damage and light smoke. It is reported that the ship and its crew are not in danger and the ship continues on its way to the destination port. The authorities are investigating this incident.
Earlier, another commercial ship was attacked in the same area, about 70 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah. Three small ships were involved in this attack, one of which was unmanned and hit the side of the ship several times. The attack stopped shortly after the merchant ship “took defensive measures”.
After the escalation of conflicts in the Gaza Strip, Yemen’s Ansarullah announced that it will not allow ships associated with Israel to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait until the operation in Gaza and its siege are stopped.
