Suspension of arms negotiations between Beijing and Washington 

Lin Jian, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, announced in a press conference that China has suspended its negotiations with the United States on arms control and non-proliferation due to Washington’s arms sales to Taiwan. 

He said: “Ignoring China’s strong and frequent protests, the US side continued to sell arms to Taiwan and took actions that seriously violate China’s core interests and destroy bilateral political mutual trust.”

This diplomat emphasized that this issue was the reason for the suspension of the new round of negotiations with the United States in the field of arms control and non-proliferation.

Lin Jian concluded: “The responsibility for this situation lies with the American side.”

Former US President Donald Trump has questioned whether the US needs to defend Taiwan. First, organizing this protection is fraught with practical difficulties. Second, if such support is sought, the island authorities must pay for it. Because Taiwan has taken over the entire microchip manufacturing business in America.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a telephone conversation with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Sziarto, noted that Beijing is ready to cooperate with Budapest to advance the political settlement of the Ukraine conflict.
