50% reduction in German aid to Ukraine
America is considered the biggest financial and weapon supporter of Ukraine in the war with Russia. However, Donald Trump, the Republican candidate in the presidential elections in November, has promised that if he enters the White House, there will be no news of tens of billions of dollars in aid to Kiev.
According to Reuters news agency, Berlin plans to cut its military aid to Ukraine by half for next year. Meanwhile, there is a risk of Trump entering the White House and reducing aid to Kiev, and in this case, there are European countries that have to provide additional aid to Ukraine.
According to the draft budget presented by Germany for 2025, the government intends to give 4 billion euros to Ukraine next year. This is despite the fact that this year, Berlin’s aid to Kyiv amounted to 8 billion euros.
German authorities hope that Ukraine can meet its military needs with a 50 billion dollar loan allocated from the profits of Russia’s blocked assets in Western countries and will not need more aid.
Christian Lindner, the Minister of Finance of Germany, says: Financial resources for Ukraine are guaranteed for the foreseeable future thanks to the recent decision of the European Union and the Group of Seven.
