Ruhullah Mehdi, a member of the Indian Parliament, said in a tweet on X channel that the police arrested a number of youths for chanting slogans in support of Palestine and carrying its flag during the Muharram ceremony in Srinagar.
This prominent Shiite figure from Srinagar constituency Jammu and Kashmir said that this police action is an attack on freedom of speech. And the police should release these people and avoid criminal behavior with them.
It should be said that the 8th Muharram procession was banned by the Indian authorities since the beginning of the uprisings against the Indian government in 1989, and then it was allowed last year and also this year.
