Riot in Leeds / City bus caught fire, police car overturned
reported by Mehr News Agency According to the Independent, following the intervention of the police and social service workers in a family fight in the city of Leeds, England, the residents of the area stormed the street and started a violent protest!
During these riots, protesters set fire to a bus and overturned a police car. The incident, which the police described as “severe disorder”, took place in the Harehills area of Leeds.
The “Yorkshire” police announced in a statement that a large number of forces were sent to this area and “the utmost legal powers” were used to deal with the offenders.
Tom Riordan, the chief executive officer of Leeds City Council, has claimed that calm has been established in the area, but the images show the intensity of these protests.
He added: A family incident was reported and the police arrived at the place, which caused people’s concern. It seems that the concern of a group of people about this incident led to the riot.
Raiverdan declined to elaborate on the fight and what he called a “family incident,” saying authorities and law enforcement intervene wherever children are in danger. According to him, “the people of the region probably had a misunderstanding”!
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, who is responsible for the executive branch in England, said she was shocked by the scenes of the night’s riots in Leeds.
Although the exact details of the incident that led to the riots have not been published, it is said that social service workers, with the cooperation of the police, forcibly separated a child from his family, and most of the protesters as well. They were immigrants!
