The dollar index increased by 0.2 percent and the yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds also increased, both of which put pressure on gold prices.
The increase in the possibility of a US Federal Reserve interest rate cut in September pushed gold prices to a new record high last week.
Among other precious metals, silver fell 3.06% to $29.30 and platinum was down 0.63% to $965.95. .
