Previously, the Turkish Ministry of Energy announced that Ankara will deploy an exploration ship to the coast of Somalia to search for oil and gas later this year. This action is done as part of the oil cooperation agreement between the two countries.
At the beginning of this year, during the visit of the Somali Defense Minister to Ankara, an agreement on defense and economic cooperation between Turkey and Somalia was signed.
Turkey has become a close ally of the Somali government in recent years.
