Pyongyang reacted to the statements of the former president and Republican candidate for the 2024 US presidential election about the leader of North Korea.

Trump met with Kim Jong Un three times between 2018 and 2019. In his speech after accepting the Republican nomination during the party’s national convention held last week, the former US president said that if he returns to the White House, he intends to “get along” with Kim, and further claimed that “Kim He also wants to meet him.”

North Korea’s official news agency, in response to these statements, issued a statement citing Pyongyang and announced that Trump’s statements confirm his long-standing desire for possible North Korea-US relations.

The statement added that a country’s foreign policy should be completely separated from personal feelings, even if Trump and Kim have exchanged personal letters many times!

According to the North Korean news agency, although during his presidency in bilateral relations with Kim, Trump tried to reflect certain personal relationships with the North Korean leader, but He failed to create a positive and significant change (in the relations between the two countries).
