Salman Rushdie’s assailant was accused of supporting Lebanon’s Hezbollah

The man who attacked the apostate writer Salman Rushdie and insulted the beloved Prophet of Islam (PBUH) faced new terrorist charges and supporting Lebanon's Hezbollah.

The Associated Press reported on Wednesday local time that a new indictment, which was published on Wednesday in the US District Court in Buffalo, accused Salman Rushdie’s assailant, Hadi Matar, of trying to provide financial support to Lebanon’s Hezbollah. The indictment does not mention in detail what evidence is related to Matar.

Also, his other new charges include committing terrorism beyond national borders and providing material support to terrorists.
