New US sanctions against China for allegedly cooperating with North Korea

Five companies and six Chinese citizens have been targeted by the US Treasury Department for allegedly facilitating North Korea's weapons and space program.

A China-based network has been sanctioned by the US Treasury Department for allegedly supporting North Korea in building ballistic missiles and advancing its space program.

According to the Reuters news agency, 6 individuals and five Chinese companies that were active in this network known as “Xi Qianpei” were included in the list of new US sanctions. These individuals and companies have been accused of providing items in support of North Korea’s weapons and space programs; Programs that are sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council.

The United States Treasury Department claimed that North Korea relies on foreign networks and companies to provide the equipment and parts it needs to advance its programs.

According to this ministry, third countries buy these parts from international manufacturers and then send them to North Korea; An action that makes the manufacturers not aware that these parts will eventually be used in Pyongyang’s weapons programs.

Also, according to Sputnik news agency, four of these five companies are active in the field of digital technologies, and the activity of the fifth company is in the field of metals. Also, the US Treasury Department has announced that “Xi Qianpei” is actually the name of a Chinese citizen who plays a prominent role in the management of this network.
